Mandy Moore Likes Smelling Her Laundry…and Now Gets Paid For It

Fast on the heels of the announcement of her engagement to alt-country rocker Ryan Adams, P&G has announced that Mandy Moore is the news spokes(wo)man for Gain laundry detergent.

At the center of the “Love at First Sniff” campaign is a website – – where you not only can get a free download of a new Mandy Moore song, but can also watch Mandy tell a story about how she loves to smell her clothes after they’re washed with Gain, and then asks you to send in your own personal Gain stories for the chance to win…..wait…..are you ready?… win…..a concert by Mandy Moore in your very own hometown!  OMG!!!

No word if P&G will use Mandy for any marketing efforts beyond interactive, but regardless, she is an interesting choice as the spokes(wo)man – particularly because she’s 24 with a core audience even younger than that – and laundry detergent being a product that is typically targeted more towards moms.  But I guess you gotta hook ’em young before they’re locked into their laundry habits.  And they shouldn’t have to worry about Mandy getting busted for drug abuse or beating up a boyfriend, so she’s a safe choice.

What a month it’s been so far for Mandy.  Not only does she have this big endorsement deal and is finishing up a new album, but she also now gets to spend the rest of her life in holy matrimony with this guy.
