In as blatant an example of the music and corporate worlds converging as you will find, Kid Rock is developing his own beer for a Michigan brewery.

So, beyond the obvious benefits of having more beer in the world, it looks like this is actually a way to help reinvigorate the downtrodden Michigan economy as this project will create about 400 new local jobs there and the brewery received a sizable tax credit from the state.

And as a testament of the power and impact that a famous name can have on a company, the brewery previously employed 8 people and produced 100,000 barrels of beer a year – and now expect to more than double that amount of production, and employ another 150 people over the next 5 years in addition to the initial 400 new jobs.  Oh, and they’ll be investing $7 mil on the beer’s production and marketing as well.

Suffice to say that Kid Rock has put up some of his own money behind this project, and he seems to be taking a hands-on approach to the product development as well.  The name, style, and pricing of the beer are still being determined, but the Kid is said to be working closely with the brewery on all those decisions.

So, good for Robert Richie.  He not only launches his own business venture, but also creates more beer for the world while aiding the Michigan economy.  Wow, makin’ beer and helpin’ the economy.  Maybe Kid Rock really is the “Rock n Roll Jesus.”
